The Downtown Centre Guidance Service is located in the heart of Limerick City Centre. We are based in the Limerick Diocesan Pastoral Centre, St Michael’sCourtyard, Denmark Street, on the 2nd floor.

NB Please be aware that we are upstairs in the building. If this presents a difficulty for you please phone ahead so that alternative arrangements can be made

Opening Hours

The Information Library is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 – 4.30, so feel free to call in at any time.

The Downtown Centre Guidance Service is available during the following times:

Monday to Friday
9.30am – 4.pm

Clients can be seen on a drop in basis. However it is best to phone in advance for an appointment to ensure you get the time that you need.

Evening appointments may be made by arrangement only, last appointment 7.00 p.m

Educational Guidance Service

The Downtown Centre Guidance Service aims to connect adult learners (adults aged 18 plus) with third level learning opportunities in the Shannon region and further afield.

It offers:

  • Information about access for adult learners to third level education including foundation, access and mature student access programmes.
  • A guidance counselling service to assist clients to explore their learning options and to make informed decisions and choices.
  • An information library containing brochures and booklets on a wide range of third level educational opportunities and related careers.
  • An open access computer for those who prefer to search for relevant information on the internet.
  • Referral to other agencies if you need to know something that we don’t offer.

Anyone over the age of 18 who would like to find out about learning opportunities at third level.

Come in and find out what programmes we have to offer through the Shannon Consortium partner institutions or allow us to help you to identify the type of course and method of learning that best suits you.

We also have information on mature student access programmes (you have to be 23 on January 1st of the year in which you want to go to third-level to be considered a ‘mature student’.)
